Can I have some slimey, please? January 30, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — saralaplante @ 3:07 am

Jeff went to the store today and bought some salami. Paige calls it slimey. “Mom, can I have a slice of slimey, please?”

Paige also got her hair cut today! It’s the first real haircut she has ever had. She had the back trimmed up once, but this is a little more. It’s very cute. Falls just above her shoulders and it’s all even and looks nice. I was so scared to have her hair cut for the first time and I am happy that it is so cute! I’ll have to get a picture of it.

Cam’s next eye appointment is tomorrow. I’m really hoping he has some improvement in his right eye. Poor guy has been dealing with an eye patch for 6 weeks now and that’s after months of eye drops as well. He’s not looking forward to going, but he’s a good sport and his dad usually gets him an ice cream cone after the appointment.

That’s the news for today. Oh, and no new snow this morning. Bummer.

Ooh, Snow! January 28, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — saralaplante @ 8:11 pm

The kids didn’t have school today anyway, but they got an extra bonus of having snow!  We woke up to maybe an inch, but it continued to fall this morning.  We went out front with intentions of sledding, but got involved in a snowball fight with the neighbors.  Even Jeff came out to join in the fun for a while.  It’s supposed to snow even more tonight and maybe tomorrow morning.  Hopefully we’ll have round two!

Building a tent January 28, 2008

I remember as a kid that building tents and forts were THE coolest thing ever!  My kids love to bring the chairs in from the dining room, grab all the blankets they can find and build a big fort in the living room.  They put pillows on the floor to sit on, use their dad’s photography clamps to hold the blankets and get their flashlights.  They make secret doorways and set up all sorts of rules about how and when you can enter.  Sometimes we make popcorn and watch a movie together from the fort, but tonight it’s just the tent and Angelina Ballerina.  They are getting to stay up a little later than normal because they are enjoying the tent so much, they both took naps and Cam doesn’t have school tomorrow.  I love these moments :)

He never stops talking. Seriously. January 24, 2008

You might think I’m exaggerating, but I am serious. It’s so obnoxious it could be a movie. If he is awake, his mouth is moving. Turn on a cartoon? He’ll tell you all about what is happening and then ask questions about why things are happening and what does this word mean and did I ever do that? Right now, he is looking at the weather forecast on my phone and telling me:

Paris, sunny, tomorrow, cloudy, next day, rainy, next day, cloudy, next day rain

Seattle, cloudy with sun, next day cloudy with rain, next day sun, …..

London… Everett.. Wenatchee… Ooh, look, it’s going to snow on Sunday! He already told all of this to Jeff who finally got so tired of it that he sent him away and now he is telling me.

Remember I said he talks unless he is asleep? He also talks in his sleep. A little less frequently than when he is awake, but the other night I went in to give him a kiss after he’d fallen asleep and he said “But I don’t know those spells yet!” I said “you’ll learn, honey” (it’s best to just go along than to tell him he is asleep) and he YELLED “EXPELLIARMUS!” and waved his imaginary wand at me.

I suppose it’s a wonderful thing that his mind is always working. I just don’t think I could talk that much if I tried.

My dear boy also says “Mom, you’re the best mom in the whole wide world, Mom. I love you.”

He can say that all he wants :) I love my Cam!

Cam turned six January 24, 2008

It’s hard to believe I have a six year-old! We celebrated by inviting his friends to Pump it Up where you can bounce on those blow up bouncy houses and go down the big blow up slide. SO FUN! I love that they let adults on too. I think I had as much fun as the kids did! We also went to Wenatchee so he could have a party with his grandparents and the kids in their neighborhood. He had a rocket pinata and they beat it up in the snow. I’d bet we’ll find some candy in the yard when the snow melts. Poor Cammy got sick, though and didn’t even get to enjoy his birthday cake.

For his birthday, I bought him the Spiderwick Chronicles set of books. We’ve been reading them in the evenings and he LOVES them! These are the first chapter books he’s really listened to. I can’t wait to see the movie!

We got a new camera. The Nikon D3. The thing is amazing. Here is a picture of my Genevieve taken at night with no flash. I’m in love!

Cam says funny things January 6, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — saralaplante @ 5:13 pm

Cam cracks me up with the things he says. He was off at the grocery store with his grandma the other day and they were having a conversation about planets and the solar system. The question of which planet is the largest came up and after a bit of discussion, Cam said “Actually, grandma, according to my calculations, the sun is the largest planet.” Clearly his calculations are a bit off, since the sun isn’t a planet, but he has a large vocabulary.

Yesterday morning, he was making suggestions for breakfast which included things like ice cream, and I told him that wasn’t an acceptable breakfast choice. His response was “Well, what would you propose, Mom?”
