Yesterday, Cam and I stopped at Pacific Place in Downtown Seattle to pick up Danielle and Brian’s wedding gift. I saw Gymboree and thought Cam could use a nice pair of pants to wear to the wedding we didn’t get to go to (see post below). He jumped on the idea and said he wanted to look very nice like his daddy and wear a tie. He spent the next 20 minutes picking out the perfect entire outfit all by himself. The sales people thought he was adorable and showed him his options. They would bring three different pairs of pants over and he would think it over and say “those don’t match, those don’t look good, I don’t like those” and move on. It was as though he was 30 years old and shopping for the perfect suit. He ended up with a tie, dress shirt, sweater vest, pants, socks and shoes. The sales people liked his new look so much, they changed out their display to use the items he picked out. Here’s a picture. Sorry for the poor quality, but i was using my phone in poor lighting. Oh, and he has the tie out of his sweater so everyone can see it. You can’t see his socks, but they match the outfit too!

Stuck at home February 10, 2008
I can certainly think of all the ways I’m blessed to have such a wonderful place to be stuck, and I’m thankful for all that I have, but I’d really like to complain for a few moments. One of my friends from Wenatchee got married today. (Congratulations, Danielle!!) I SO badly wanted and expected to be there. I booked a kennel for the dogs and train tickets for the four of us. On Thursday evening, Amtrak called to tell me that an avalanche had covered the tracks and the train was canceled. On a happy note, the avalanche also took out a vacation home, but no one was inside. One day later and 13 people may have been inside! So.. I decided to check flights. I should mention here that Danielle and Brian had hired Jeff to be their photographer, so it was absolutely critical that he get to Wenatchee. There is only one airline that services the Wenatchee area, so we looked up Horizon Air and there was one seat left for Friday. Jeff booked it for himself, but the rest of us were still without transportation. So, I canceled the kennel and train reservations. Dad and Mom then called and said they would drive all the way over here after they got off work to drive us. YAY!! So.. I re-booked a kennel, and booked return train tickets for Monday. At 1:00, the DOT closed ALL of the passes that connect me to Wenatchee in the state of WA so Mom and Dad couldn’t come get me. At that point, I had to re-cancel the kennel and return train tickets. Jenn offered her AWD super car for Jeff’s Mini so I could drive over first thing Saturday morning when the passes were thought to be re-opened. (Insert large amounts of thanks to Jenn here). I spent all day today checking the pass reports every 15 minutes while also doing some work. The passes never opened.
Looks like Snoqualmie will open around 10:00pm, but that opening perfectly coincides with the next snow storm of 20 more inches which possibly leads to more avalanches and I don’t really want to be buried in a pile of snow. Although.. Jenn’s car DOES have a DVD player, so if that didn’t get squished, at least we’d have entertainment while waiting for our rescuers. *sigh* Okay, that’s not really funny. I finally made the decision to stay home completely. I’m sad about it. I wanted to see Danielle get married and have fun at her reception and see her family again, but it’s not to be. I have another story about the outfit Cam picked out for the wedding, but I’ll save that for it’s own, happier post.
Oh yea, I also don’t have any milk for mochas or cereal and I can’t cook. Thank goodness Papa John’s delivers Pizza. When will Starbucks start delivering?
Attitude February 7, 2008
Both kids have tried a few little attitudes on me lately and it’s really hilarious! I can’t let them get away with it, but I will blog about it since they can’t read anyway. A couple of days ago, Cam was mad at me giving him too many instructions about his behaviour in the car. He and sister kept poking at each other and teasing and I was telling them to stop. Cam covered his ears and yelled “lalalalalalalallalalalalalalala.” If I remember correctly, Jeff pulled the car over for that one.
Then.. this morning, Miss Paige was NOT listening to me and I was getting frustrated. I told her sternly to go sit down and finish her breakfast straight away or she wasn’t going to get to eat it because we needed to leave soon and she replied with full teenage attitude “BLAH BLAH BLAH.” Um. She’s THREE.
I don’t think either of them will try those tactics again any time soon, but it sure provided us with entertainment and discipline practice.
